Ambersands 06:46
I’d lie on a beach and wait to die Feeling no regrets in the high tide Knowing the moon was always on my side While a million specters are holding hands Their bodies lie on amber sands Hear an interpretation of the divine? As told by humans, a hypocritical rhyme Benefit from a creed that bleeds All for the snake of belief I’d rather lie on a beach and wait to die Adding to the populous brings regret Fortunate upbringings, did they forget? A simple repetition of reality Now a million bodies lie on crimson sands Waiting for some afterlife ampersand Hear a deviation from the divine? As told by humans, a hypocritical rhyme Benefit from a creed that bleeds All for the snake of belief Little reminders of how life’s too big and small Tiny suggestions to trust no one at all Reminds you not to believe in some grand plan Drifting away on my own river Red shores for crimson sands Expectations are divine Just don’t let go of your mind Activate another spinning vignette Through rough handling, spine adjustments

He’s a genius with a cursor, he’s so arty He makes predetermined symphonies For all the cough medicine parties His computer is the place to be He’s got two killer laptops He peeks up every once in a while To see that the attention has stopped And to get it back is futile Your line of code is amazing Code is notes? Code as notes? Don’t lie to yourself, Maestro He’s digitally numb and his charger is broke He cuts himself with graphics cards When he sets up they all think it’s a joke They all turn back to the bar But they can’t drown their sorrows With his latest sequencer software Can’t respect beats borrowed What does it matter? Your audience won’t care

about

The “Ambersands” EP was recorded over a two week period in January 2014. The music has a more structured art rock and 'art punk' aesthetic compared to FPS’s other releases. Guitar, drums and bass dominate the sound of this EP. Live drums were used for all the recordings. A small portion of synthesizer was used in a brief section of “Ambersands”, but is otherwise absent from the other tracks.

An “ElectroLobotomy” circuit bent modular noise box was used in a couple tracks. FX used: ProCo Turbo Rat and Behringer BUC400 Ultra Bass Chorus pedals for bass. ProCo Rat, Boss DD-7 Digital Delay, Vox Looper, and Morley Optical Volume pedals were used for guitar. A large FX pedal unit and Roland Space Echo used for Steel Guitar, alternating between glass, wood and steel slides.

The album artwork was drawn in black ink and colored with color pencils over a course of 4 nights by Ashley Sackett. The album also features the only appearance of the talented Gage Steinberg in FPS in a studio recording before his exit in February 2014. He contributed fantastic bass tracks (and that small bit of synthesizer on the title track) for all four songs and his improvisations on the title track is something FPS is very thankful for.

The Finer Points Of Sadism (FPS) Boise, Idaho

Jacobb and Ashley started playing music together in 2002 in several different bands in Boise, Idaho, USA. They accumulated circuit bent equipment and instruments, vintage synthesizers, and analog FX units. In late 2010, Jacobb recalls hearing strange and horrific noises as well as visual anomalies during a near death experience, which has influenced FPS's sound to this day. ... more
